New and interesting ways!!
This is an ontology for the Holy Bible. There are two ways of reading the Bible: one is just a normal reading from the Genesis all the way down to the Revelation and the other way is ontological semantic way as suggested here. In this, some biblical elements in the Bible are conceptualized. They are, in fact, conceptually divided, collocated, inter linked and finally some meaningful values are added as shown in the picture below. By this way, it is thought to bring more meaning (semantics) to the way data is collected, stored, and integrated.
I hope this will make it easier for the information in this Bible Ontology to be used in new and interesting ways, and that it might inspire new mechanisms for navigating, linking and improving this Ontology itself.
Making the world of 'Web of Data' possible
Semantically organized DATA, unlike traditional TEXT based systems, invoke users to generate plenty of meanings by linking, remixing, harmonizing, and merging between related metadata and their elements. For example, click on, Moses in this Bible Ontology and it aggregates all related meaningful data from all the sources in multiple resources, and displays them in the format of "Subject-Predicate-Object" format. As shown http://bibleontology.com/resource/Moses here, users can easily see some other associations and related values. Say, "Moses" belongs to the "Period of Exodus", Moses has such and such children, such and such parents and siblings, and some Biblical events related with Moses, etc and users are further invited to explore both in dbpedia and in Wikipedia. This very fact introduces the concept of Linked Data. This collection of interrelated data on the Web can also be referred to as Linked Data. Linked Data, indeed, lies at the heart of the Semantic Web. Linked Data is a specific method to make the world of "Web of Data" possible. This could be what the semantic web of documents. We are not throwing away the traditional Web of document, we need a good harmony between the two. We need ambidexterity.
Providing a home for, or pointers to ...
This Bible Ontology acts as a site that provides "a home for, or pointers to, resources from across the Linked Data community". Linked Data is a methodology for providing relationships between things (data, concepts and documents) anywhere on the web, using URI's for identifying, RDF for describing and HTTP for publishing these things and relationships, in a way that they can be interpreted and used by humans and software. This Bible Ontology strictly observed what this community suggested. Now as we will see, some information in the Bible are organized, indexed, mapped, and managed in a decentralized, distributed fashion, and then brought together - physically collocated at runtime when being presented to end users.
Hope you enjoy this unique Bible Ontology and enlarge your biblical knowledge. Also hope you can also read the Bible as you always do. This would be a better helper by on-the-fly referencing and dereferencing tools than normal way of reading and consulting reference tools manually.
Last, I'd like to express my special thanks to Mr. Wonseok Oh who is managing director of the TopQuardrant Korea. Without his help, publishing on the web would be a just dream. This may not be the perfect ontology from the so-called specialists' point of view, but I boldly open this site in the belief of plucking the low-hanging fruits. We can't wait until what we call a perfect ontology. Maybe it will never come. I would welcome any advices and/or any criticism, as long as this Ontological Knowledge Representation based on the Linked Data Paradigm develops.
Thank you
